Updating my Blog

Wow, I think I actually forgot I had this blog. I apparently set this up back in 2007 after just finishing my first Half Marathon in Virginia Beach. Timing is interesting since I will be doing my second Half Marathon in 16 more days at the same place.
A lot has happened since my last blog entry. I have been certified as a personal trainer and will be working on getting certified as a running coach, hopefully over the summer or early Fall, with RRCA. I have been a basketball coach now for Middle school girls for 3 years, and I took on the title of Head Coach for Track and Field last Spring, so this will be my 2nd year at coaching both Middle school and H.S Track.
On the running front. I have completed my Baltimore Marathon in Oct 2007, but although I finished it, it took me 5: 28 to do it. A lot of ITBS pain in miles 18-26.2, it was one of the hardest physical things I have ever done, aside from giving birth to all four children.
Currently, I am getting ready for Half #2 at Shamrock, a COMEBACK 5k (I call it) to beat my best 5k time of 25:38 ran two weeks after my Half. The same situation is presenting itself once again, so I feel the need to revisit that little race, and ROCK with a new 5k PR!
Training is going well, so I will be back soon, to report on those two races, the Half and the 5k. I want to break 2 hours for my half, the first one was 2:03.

Learning to Run

I want to introduce myself to everyone. Hi, my name is Tracey and I am a runner. I only started running long distance almost two years ago. When I was young, I ran sprints only, and only in elementary school. I hated the mile, and never dreamed I would one day be training for a MARATHON.

I took up running two years ago, to lose weight while doing Jenny Craig. I signed up for a 5K, and learned how to run by doing a walk to run program. I did well at my first 5K and signed up for another. My distance just kept increasing since then. Two 5K's, a 5 Miler, a 10 miler, and I just completed my first 1/2 Marathon in March.
Starting in June, I will train over the summer for the Baltimore Marathon in October. I am looking forward to training and cross training by swimming, and am trying to decide if I can actually set a time of 4:30 for this 1st Marathon, or if I should just concentrate on finishing in one piece. :)

Today, I ran 7.4 miles, just to maintain until training time. I am averaging about 15-22 miles per week right now, but will start upping that with my training schedule starting June 25th.
Feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions you may have out there.
I look forward to hearing from many of you.
Take care and to quote Eric Liddel " Just run and feel His pleasure"
